Birthday Tribute to my Mom
A Negative Made Positive
A couple years back I wrote up a story about an incredible client I had and feel the need to express more admiration to this young man. He deserves the utmost respect and I’ve never been more proud of him. One day while preparing for my day of clients as usual got a phone call from a kid I grew up with regarding training his son CJ.As someone who takes great pride in what I do, I always feel very honored when a parent instills their trust with me to help with their child. It really validates my purpose on this Earth. It really feels amazing to get the opportunity to guide them in the right path! Chuck and I worked out the details and set it up for CJ’s journey was so fired up!! From the minute CJ stepped in the studio for his first workout you could feel his positive energy. Always respectful and downright serious. He was on the Football team and needed to pack on some muscle to go with his speed. Growing up I was built like CJ with a small frame but had extra ordinary strength and speed’s possessed amazing potential was extremely impressed. Workout after workout I pushed that kid hard literally tried to crush him but he could not be broken. No matter I subjected him to he absorbed and always wanted more. When all when said and done CJ has packed on a good 12 pounds of lean and mean muscle with speed to back it up. We had an incredible time and he went off to school after the summer passed. As all my clients I kept in contact with him. He has me for life.
The REAL story is next…..
Cj was having some issues with breathing and went in for some tests only find out everyone’s horrible fear. He has a 10cm mass in the middle of his chest. Only 19 years young, his life was now challenged forever. He has Cancer. A parent’s worst nightmare and obviously devastating to CJ That was NOT going to stop him. NOTHING was going to get in his way.Even after getting that news, even after a year of non stop treatments, back and forth to Boston and having to undergo hair loss, muscle loss, etc….NEVER did Cj show a single negative word or attitude in fact…CJ and a close friend took the awfulness of Cancer and made a Positive from a Negative. They started a campaign with a T-shirt Idea to show strength through adversity.
The following is a letter CJ’s Dad sent me.
As many of you know, at the beginning of last year (2013) my then 19yr old son CJay was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called “grey zone” lymphoma. Well, after several open biopsies, the insertion of a port to administer medicine, 4 months of chemotherapy, a month of proton radiation (every day) and many other visits to Mass General; CJay (Thank God) is currently in remission. Although this was a terrible ordeal includinglosing lots of weight & hair, being sick for 4-5 days after each chemo treatment CJay continued to fight for his survival. One of the key components in allowing CJay to persevere against this terrible illness was his ability to Stay Positive! This mental state and overall message had such an resounding impact on CJay that he and his best friend Tom Mullin decided to create an apparel company to support the battle against cancer and help spread. The message about Staying Positive. Their company website is as follows - http://www.staypositiveapparel.com/. In summary, they are currently selling men/women’s shirts and hats with a portion of each item being donated to help fight the battle against cancer. They only recently started selling their apparel right before Christmas to selected family and friends. Their company and apparel was created with an emphasis on supporting the fight against all of the different types of cancers. This is accomplished by selecting a specific logo color that represents one of the different types of cancer (For Example… Lymphoma=Lime Green; Breast Cancer=Pink, etc…). As you visit their Company website, you will gain a better understanding of the meaning behind their company name, logo and apparel. Since this horrible disease touches so many people, please feel free to pass this email along to any other individual that may be interested in the above information.
Thank you in advance for reading this email and remember to Stay Positive!
Sincerely ..

What Personal Training means to me
By Gerry Blais
if someone were to ask......
"What does Personal training mean to you"? That question has many answers to many people. By “definition”, (said with robotic geeky voice)"Personal training would be described as an establishment of an assigned or attained client’s fitness goals and its determined direction to hit goal". That’s obviously significant and justified but to me it’s too "mechanical”. Without getting negative about the subject, as there are a lot of bad apples out there, it’s best we focus on only positive things. What personal training means to ME is defined in one word....”Relationship". I feel it is compared to a marriage. Unity of Trust, faith and loyalty. To engage....to commit to conquer many goals, working through good and bad. To be there to “listen and help the other through challenging times. To enthusiastically join the other during those amazing moments of accomplishment and show great pride in their journey. It’s a bond and a sacrifice to share. When I get a new client (victim), I tell them I now consider them family and will be there for them 24 hours a day. If they need me, I will be there, regardless of anything. From here on, and beyond(they are stuck with me)I will give my very utmost and will NEVER quit on them. There is obviously more involved pertaining to workouts and Nutrition as they are the fundamentals of reaching a determined goal but to me...Personal training is “physiological”. The very foundation of it all is Love. A love for the ones you are responsible for and great Love for what you do.
Now that’s fulfillment!
